Michael Brecker was not only the most influential saxophonist I've heard since John Coltrane but a dear friend. We began our association in the late 60's when I had a rehearsal band which later became to known as White Elephant. Upon first hearing Michael, I knew I was in the presence of young man who possessed a special gift and now his music and legacy is ours to enjoy forever.

Mike Mainieri
